Chapter Two

Steffi’s giggling had woken me from my nap the day before, but at Tucker’s insistence, I slept on the floor in the kid’s room that night to keep the scary monsters away. I wasn’t surprised to wake in the morning to find Leo on the floor beside me, snuggled up with a plastic baseball bat in his little hands. The kids had been afraid of monsters since the day they came to live in the Angelson household, so I did my best to be a good older brother for them.
