Berkley Benson was a beautiful woman, much like her sister. She lay in a hospital bed, not quite dead but not quite alive. She was eighteen when her world stopped, but the real world kept turning and made her twenty-two while she slept like a princess on a white hospital bed. And Mattie, she just couldn’t let her go. Berkley lived in a persistent vegetative state, but her condition was worsening. She had frequent respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, and a slew of other problems that all added up to one thing—Berkley was dying, and it was killing Mattie.
