Brian looked at Becca, the morning sun pouring down on her beside the car in an altogether different way than it had that night so many years ago. Then, it had been the last rays of sunset lighting her golden like a statue. Now, it was the bright, fresh brilliance of a new morning, its rays beaming on her brown hair like a spotlight of warmth and hope. Brian threw out all his plans for an eloquent speech. There was no point; anything he said would fall flat. He needed to speak straightforwardly, to bare the truth for what it was.
