Alexia

I stood in front of the mirror, staring at my jeans and blouse. I'd tried to find a good combination of casual and dressy because I wasn't sure which was best for the date, and I'd been too embarrassed to ask. I'd sort-of curled my hair and put on minimal makeup, going for that “I didn't really try, it just looks like this” vibe, but I wasn't sure it was working. I was trying too hard, and I felt like every inch of my face and hair and clothes were glaring signs declaring it. Get it together, Lexy, I told myself, forcing a deep breath and then another. Not that I didn't want to try or for him to think I was excited about the date, I just... didn't want to seem like I was trying too hard.
